Actor Strips Down for New Campaign Asking People to ‘Try to Relate to Who’s On Your Plate’

Sydney – Model, actor and strict vegetarian Isabelle Cornish stars in a brand-new sultry ad for PETA Australia. In the ad, shot by top photographer Daniel Boud, Cornish perches on a rocky headland wearing nothing but a mermaid tail next to the words “Try to Relate to Who’s on Your Plate”.

“Fish are one of the most abused animals on the planet”, Cornish explains in a behind-the-scenes video.

Fish are intelligent animals who experience fear and distress when they’re hooked or netted and pulled from the water. Scientific studies confirm that fish are sensitive individuals who feel pain, just as dogs and cats do. One issue of the journal Fish and Fisheries cited more than 500 research papers on fish intelligence that proved that fish are smart, can use tools and have impressive long-term memories and sophisticated social structures.

And as Cornish points out, “There are no Australian laws that protect these fish, and if the same things were done to dogs and cats, it wouldn’t be allowed”.
