China Southern Airlines – Stop Shipping Primates to Labs!
Following aggressive campaigns by PETA affiliates around the globe, almost every major airline has stopped shipping primates to laboratories to undergo painful experiments.
Unfortunately, China Southern Airlines – which had previously pledged not to ship primates to laboratories – has resumed this bloody business, quietly bowing to pressure from biomedical companies that are desperate to continue profiting from the abuse of monkeys.
Tens of thousands of these highly intelligent animals, who live in complicated social groups in the wild and have been shown to use tools and play with toys, are shipped to laboratories around the world every year.
Monkeys transported to laboratories are separated from their families (many are even taken from the wild) and locked in dark, terrifying cargo holds for as long as 30 hours. If you fly China Southern Airlines, these terrified primates may be in the cargo hold below your feet – waiting to be delivered to facilities where they will be tortured and killed. Once they arrive, they are locked in barren cages and forced to endure invasive experiments which may include being force-fed experimental chemicals or having holes drilled into their skulls, among other abuses.
Qantas, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, US Airways, Air China, Philippines Airline and dozens of others have pledged not to take part in this despicable trade. Air France and China Southern Airlines are the last major airlines continuing to profit from this cruelty.
What You Can Do
Please sign this petition to ask China Southern Airlines to stop profiting from flying monkeys and other primates to the US and Canada to be tortured and killed in laboratories.
