Olivia Munn Exposes Shocking Fur Cruelty

Posted on by Ashley Fruno

Actor Olivia Munn, who stars in HBO’s hit series The Newsroom, reveals the true cost of every fur hat, fur coat and pair of fur earmuffs in a new undercover video exposé. Shocking footage taken on Chinese fur farms reveals that animals were beaten, stomped on, genitally electrocuted and skinned alive.

There are currently no penalties for abusing animals on fur farms in China, which is the world’s largest exporter of fur. Undercover investigations have repeatedly shown what the fur industry is desperate to hide: Foxes, minks, rabbits and even dogs and cats are cruelly killed in order to make fur coats and vests as well as the trim for jackets, gloves and other accessories.

Almost three-quarters of the fur sold in Australia comes from China, where deliberate mislabelling means that fur marked “fox” or “wolf” might actually have come from a dog or cat. So if you choose to wear fur, you never know whose skin you’re in.

While the footage of abuse on fur farms can be hard to watch, Olivia reminds us, “There’s nothing good about pretending like you don’t know”. Please pledge not to wear fur, and ask your friends and family to do the same.
