Man Runs Into Burning Building to Save Dog’s Life

Gold Coast – For acting quickly to save a dog trapped inside a house fire in Elanora, local tradesman Gary Webber will receive a Hero to Animals Award from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Australia.

Mr Webber was working on a nearby water pipeline when he heard screaming. While two other dogs and their human companion had already managed to make it out of the house, which was fully engulfed in flames, another dog – named Panda – was trapped in the basement.  Mr Webber entered the burning building and guided Panda outs. For his efforts, he will receive a framed certificate and a letter of appreciation from PETA.

“The compassion and heroism shown by Mr Webber is truly an inspiration”, says PETA Australia Associate Director of Campaigns Ashley Fruno. “The Gold Coast community is very fortunate to have such a caring resident.”
