Lutana Animal Lover Scoops Up Prize in PETA Contest

Hobart, Tasmania – After entering a PETA competition which attracted hundreds of entrants from across Australia, Lutana’s Ellen Bennett has been crowned Tasmania’s Sexiest Vegan Next Door! The 22-year-old told PETA that she’s vegan because she values all life – proving that kindness is the sexiest quality of all.

“I live among my animal friends by sharing their light, happiness, [and] freedom. Not by eating their flesh,” says Bennett. “Animals are my dearest friends, and that means I do not eat them.”

The contest – modelled after PETA’s iconic Sexiest Vegan Celebrity contest, which has featured stars such as Today Extra‘s David Campbell, Olympian Morgan Mitchell, and model Bridget Malcolm – shows that gorgeous men and women who are meat-, dairy-, and egg-free can be found all over Australia, which last year topped Google Trends data for searches of the word “vegan”.

“A fit body, a healthy heart, and a clear conscience are just some of the benefits of eating vibrant plant-based meals,” says PETA Associate Director of Campaigns Ashley Fruno. “Ellen is a testament to how sexy vegans are – inside and out.”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – notes that, while vegans obviously have big hearts, studies show that they have healthier ones, too. In addition to slashing their risk of developing heart disease, they’re less prone to suffering from cancer, diabetes, and obesity.

Bennett will receive a slew of prizes, including a PETA T-shirt, a Kind Cartel tote, and a voucher to spend at vegan café A Tad Whimsy.
