“Can’t Buy Me Love” – not at a pet store, anyway. The Beatles, whose songs remain among the most celebrated and beloved music of all time, have donated the use of the classic hit to PETA US to help end animal homelessness.
The song is used in a vibrant campaign video directed by Steven Willis that features adopted cats and dogs (including a terrier mix who was rescued near PETA US’ Virginia headquarters) and dancers from salsa troupe Baila Conmigo, winner of the World Latin Dance Cup and finalist on America’s Got Talent.
Paul McCartney has said that he thinks the great thing about PETA US is that it’s “relentless”. That’s also one of the great things about him. Sir Paul has been one of the most active and influential forces for animal rights for more than three decades, and he’s still finding creative new ways to combat cruelty and promote compassion.
