Vinnies Goes Fur-Free in Western Australia!

News / Vinnies Goes Fur-Free in Western Australia!
For taking a stand against selling cruelly produced animal fur, St Vincent de Paul Society in Western Australia has received a PETA Australia Proggy Award.

PETA’s Proggy Awards (“Proggy” is for “progress”) recognise animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture.

Why Fur-Free?

Animals on fur farms are confined to cramped, filthy cages before they’re drowned, beaten, strangled, electrocuted and even skinned alive for fur coats, collars and cuffs.

Chinese fur is often deliberately mislabelled and may come from dogs and cats. If you wear any fur, there’s no way of knowing for sure whose skin you’re in.

PETA Australia regularly communicates with Australian designers and retailers to raise awareness of the reality of the fur industry. Many brands have now committed to not using animal fur in their designs. The Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival has also banned fur from the entire event.
