It’s St Patrick’s Day! Here’s Where to Cheers – With Vegan Food
Whether you’ve got Irish roots or not, Saint Patrick’s Day (March 17) is a great chance to grab a beer and enjoy a pub meal that’s kind to animals and the planet at one of Australia’s vegan pubs.
St Patrick’s Day is all about going green, and, with a far lower carbon and water footprint than eating animals, so is going vegan!
Here’s a list of Aussie pubs and bars where the beer is cold, the craic is legendary, and animals are always off the menu.
The Chippo Hotel, Chippendale, Sydney
Heralded as Australia’s first 100% vegan pub, The Chippo Hotel Chippendale offers live music, drinks specials, and vegan pub grub from Mama B’s, including a fish-free seafood basket, Chick’n Parma, Bangers and Mash, and even Lion’s Mane Mushroom steak.
With a generous kids’ menu and loads of alcohol-free drinks for the designated driver, The Chippo is a great place to toast the luck of the Irish.

Vegie Bar, Fitzroy, Melbourne
A cruelty-free institution, Vegie Bar has been serving animal-free fare for almost 40 years, offering up giant plates of nachos, tacos, pizzas and parmas. But Vegie Bar isn’t all pub grub: there are also healthy soups, salads and curries to suit everyone. The menu is vast and vibrant, the atmosphere is lively and relaxed, and it’s the perfect place to gather a group.

Yulli’s Brews, Alexandria, Sydney
What started as a chic fusion spot in Surry Hills has blossomed into an empire with Yulli’s now also occupying a brewery in Alexandria that boasts the same animal-free fare amid some cracking ales.
While closed Tuesdays, when St Patrick’s Day 2026 falls, it’s worth delaying celebrations by a day to enjoy Yulli’s inventive range of in-house brews paired with Asian fare and a relaxed space with a neighbourhood feel.

Green Man’s Arms, Melbourne
From small plates like king oyster “calamari” and fried cauliflower, to big eats like eggplant parma and cheeseburgers, The Green Man’s Arms is a vibrant meet-up spot on bustling Lygon Street.
Here, the seasonal food menu supports local suppliers, while the drinks selection is vast and creative – and yep, you can get a Guinness on tap.

Raising a pint at a vegan venue is the best way to be sure (to be sure) that you’re celebrating St Patrick’s Day that’s kind and truly green.
Remember, if you feel your local could do with some delicious vegan menu items, speak up! You never know what speaking up for animals will accomplish.
