A PETA exposé into the cashmere industry in China and Mongolia—the world’s top cashmere exporters—reveals that goats screamed in pain and fear as workers tore their hair out with sharp metal combs.

Later, these goats’ throats were slit in slaughterhouses, sometimes after the animals were hit over the head with a hammer, and they were left to die in agony. Goats suffered on every farm in China and Mongolia visited by the eyewitnesses.

Not only is this industry cruel, cashmere also has the most destructive environmental impact of any animal-derived fibre.
