How to Host a Cruelty-Free Hottest 100 Party

As Australia Day approaches, many of us have already cast our votes for our favourite artists in Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown.

If you’re hosting a party this year, be sure to keep it cruelty-free. Here are our top three tips for a party that will impress your friends and keep animals happy, too.

1. Remember Your Companion Animals

Lots of new people and loud music can leave animals nervous and unsettled – make sure any animals you share your home with have a safe space to get away from the noise. Keep plenty of fresh water around, particularly if the weather is hot, and check on animals periodically to make sure they’re OK.

2. Don’t Make a Fashion Faux Pas

Most people agree that using animals for fashion is cruel and unnecessary. Make sure you dress to impress by choosing an outfit that’s free of wool, leather, fur and silk. Be sure to check that your cosmetics are cruelty-free, too.

3. Provide Tasty Vegan Treats

With more and more Australians opting to leave animal products off their plates, make sure every party guest has something to tantalise their tastebuds by serving up some tasty vegan snacks. It’s never been easier to grab vegan buffet food from the supermarket – chips, dips, vegan sausage rolls, veggie burgers and hot dogs, and sandwiches – there’s no need to spend hours in the kitchen to serve up a feast. You might be surprised how much party food you already buy is “accidentally vegan”, too.
