Out of scores of entries came eight finalists from across the country, but there were two who stood out with their impressive combination of charm, activism and compassion for animals.

Australia’s Hottest Vegans for 2018 are Kelly Benson and Kaz Quinn!

Kelly – a semi-professional rugby player hailing from Newcastle – transformed his health and appearance when he started eating vegan to cure his sleep apnoea, inflammation, and skin problems.

“[Eating vegan] has been vital for my performance and recovery [while] playing rugby league semi-professionally. But primarily, it’s best for the animals, the environment, and for people’s health …. I’ve planted many seeds in minds of footy mates in my team about [the] benefits of a plant-based diet. I get asked a lot of questions about what I consume to maintain muscle and strength.”

He has received a three month Vegan Mystery Box subscription from The Cruelty Free Shop, a 12-month subscription to The Australian Vegan Magazine, and a six-week online vegan wellness course with health coach Paige Renshaw of The Whole Connection.

Meanwhile veterinary nurse Kaz has made a career out of caring for animals and when she’s not befriending dogs at her clinic in Townsville, she’s using her many animal tattoos as “conversation starters” to help people understand why animalsshould be kept off our plates.

Kaz’ prize includes a three-month Vegan Mystery Box subscription from The Cruelty Free Shop, a 12-month subscription to The Australian Vegan Magazine, a Luna & Soul Active yoga set, and a Holster shoe voucher.

Both Kelly and Kaz are living proof that a clear conscience and a compassionate heart are the hidden ingredients of hotness. So many people have been inspired by their integrity and vitality to try vegan.

We’re thrilled for our two wonderful victors – but of course, to animals, everyone who makes the compassionate switch to eating vegan is a winner. If Kelly and Kaz’s stories have inspired you, try going vegan for yourself.
