Hughesy Tricks Kebab Shop Customers With ‘Meatless Meat’

News / Hughesy Tricks Kebab Shop Customers With ‘Meatless Meat’

As vegan eating continues to explode in popularity, the major supermarkets are taking notice and lining their shelves with a plethora of cruelty-free foods.

The Alternative Meat Co is behind the latest range of products to land on the shelves at Coles, Woolworths, and IGA stores.

Owned by Australian company Life Health Foods – the brand behind popular products such as Vegie Delights – The Alternative Meat Co’s products include Beef Free Chunks, Chicken Free Strips, and Pork Free Shreds.

In addition to being popular with supermarket shoppers, the new products – which are all gluten-free – have impressed a bunch of meat-munching kebab shop customers. Comedian Dave Hughes tricked the unsuspecting customers into thinking they were eating animal flesh, as this hilarious video shows:

In fact, the products are 100 per cent plant-based and made with soy protein. No matter where you shop, it’s never been easier to find delicious vegan foods which help you stay healthy and help protect the environment.

And of course, choosing plant-based meals also spares animals immense suffering.

How to Cook Alternative Meat Co Products

Cooking methods have a big impact on how a meal tastes. Here are some top tips for getting the most out of these new meatless delights and ensuring they taste extra-tender and delicious:

  • Add half a cup of liquid (water, vegetable stock, or fruit juice work well) into the pan for extra juiciness.
  • Simmer for no more than 3 minutes – overcooking will dry the product out.
  • Mix it up! Tired of the same old stir fries? There are heaps of recipes on The Alternative Meat Co’s website. Check out this delicious Rendang Roti Roll, and prepare to drool!
